As RPNAO's career advisor, through our career counselling service, I continue to work with many  recent grads, directing them to our on-line Career Directions Program, supporting them with face-to-face meetings, completing resumes, cover letters, job search, and interview preparation.  Providing support and direction when a member has received a letter from the College of Nurses  of Ontario is also an integral part of my role with RPNAO.

Recently, we’ve had an increase in questions regarding career change and RPNAO’s Mentorship Program can support you if you’re thinking about transitioning to a new role or a new practice setting.

As the 2012-2013 school year ended, I was honoured to be a guest at several Pinning Ceremonies to celebrate as practical nursing students transition to graduates ready for the CPNRE – good luck with your registration exam future Practical Nurses! As the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year gets underway, I have many classroom presentations scheduled to discuss RPNAO’s role as the professional association and unified voice for RPNs in Ontario and the important advocacy work that we do. This year, we are offering our classroom presentations in French – for our NEW French presentation please contact Holly Smither via email or by phone at 905-602-4664 ext. 241! If you are interested in having RPNAO do a classroom presentation for your PN students, please contact our Nursing Practice and Outreach Specialist, Beth McCracken, through email or by phone at 905-602-4664 ext. 225.

Our Career Directions partners Mary Wheeler and Michelle Copper from donnerwheeler will be hosting a FREE pre-conference workshop at our 55th AGM & Conference happening October 3-4, 2013 in Vaughan. The workshop is called “It’s all about Building Successful Mentoring Relationships” and we can’t wait to see you there! Registration is quick and easy through our Conference page and you can check out the complete program here.
