Information on the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE) To practice as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario, students must pass the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE) or an acceptable equivalent to become registered in Ontario. The RPN exam has 260 multiple-choice questions. Each question is designed to measure a specific competency required of entry-level Registered Practical Nurses. The examination is divided into four books administered over the course of one day. For more information about the CPNRE, click here or here. New Grad Initiative 2007 Every new nursing graduate wishing to work full-time will have the opportunity to do so thanks to the initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Information on this initiative can be found at the following link.

Student Bursaries The Education Trust Fund of the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario is pleased to announce the continuation of the Education Trust Fund bursary program. There will be four $750 bursaries awarded annually.
Students from both 1st and 2nd year are welcome to apply. The deadline is October, 31st of each year. The following attachments must accompany the application:
1. Applicantʼs Essay of a minimum of 750 words or more of one of the following topics: a. Legislation b. Advocacy for RPNAO c. Scope of Practice d. Leadership
2. Letter from Nursing Faculty stating professionalism and performance of the student.
