*College of Nurses 2010-11 Quality Assurance News:
The CNO Quality Assurance (QA) Program is based on the principle that lifelong learning is essential to continuing competence. Nurses demonstrate their commitment to continually improving their nursing practice, in every setting, by 1) engaging in practice reflection and 2) setting and achieving goals. It is mandatory for every nurse registered in Ontario to participate in the College's QA Program. Each year 2 Practice Standards are selected for review, the 2009- 2010 focus was Ethics and infection Control.
CNO has recently announced the 2010-2011 Practice Standards as Documentation and Infection Prevention and Control. Resources and learning plan forms are accessible under the Maintain Your Membership Section- Quality Assurance on the CNO website to support your 2010- 11 learning goals.
*Survey Update
With the conclusion of the RPNAO 2010 survey in September, key factors were identified related to the retention and recruitment of RPNs. To better understand these factors the RPNAO will be conducting 6 focus groups involving RPNs from across Ontario. The purpose is to gain your insight in order to provide recommendations that truly reflect the experiences of RPNs within the province related to retention and recruitment to the profession. We are nearing the end of our focus group sessions with 4 of the 6 focus groups concluded and the remaining two scheduled for completion by February 9, 2011.The focus groups were selected to gain a cross section of experiences and included urban, rural and remote areas of Ontario as well as the perspective on internationally trained RPNs. A final report will be available spring 2011.

All RPNs who completed the Survey were entered in an iPod Touch Draw to thank them for their participation. Pictured with Dianne Martin (left) is Bhasantie Bishundeo winner of the iPod Touch Draw. Congratulations Bhasantie!
